WORSHIP WITH US

Worship is an important part of our lives as followers of Jesus.  It is an opportunity for us to gather in community to experience God and to be renewed in our faith.  Worship creates a space where God meets us through God’s Word and Sacraments of Holy Communion and Holy Baptism, and where we as a community respond to God in our praise, prayer, fellowship, and giving.  Hope Lutheran Church is pleased to offer unique styles of worship to encounter God in different ways.

Each of our worship services provide a "come as you are" atmosphere where we celebrate Holy Communion every week and all are welcome to receive it. We don't print bulletins, however, all congregational responses and songs are provided on screen and we even have QR codes in the pews for easy access to online giving during offering. Once a month, usually on the second Sunday, we have Stephen Ministers who provide personal anointing and prayer during Holy Communion and we love kids in worship! Children of all ages are welcome in both of our worship services, and to come just as they are. Our 10:30 Modern Worship includes a special children’s message all year round and we have activity bags available to help keep them busy during worship.

All are welcome at Hope Lutheran Church -- Join us for Worship!

Pentecost Celebration & Spring Congregational Meeting
Sunday, May 19

  • 9:30am Combined Worship
  • 10:45am Spring Congregational Meeting & Sunday School
  • 11:30am Cookout

“In the last days it will be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.” – Acts 2:17

Join us for this very special Sunday as we celebrate Pentecost and gather as a church community for worship, fellowship, and our Spring Congregational Meeting.  Pentecost is the day we celebrate from Acts 2, when the promised Holy Spirit descended on the disciples and empowered them to go and be the witnesses in the world that Jesus had called them to be.  For this reason, Pentecost is often celebrated as “the birthday of the church”; and we will gather to celebrate our “birthday” this year and the kickoff to summer as we wrap up the program year.  Please join us for one combined worship service at 9:30am, after which we will hold our Spring Congregational Meeting.  Childcare will be available during worship at 9:30am and during the Congregational Meeting.  Sunday school will be held at 10:45am during the Spring Congregational Meeting, and families are invited to worship together at 9:30am.

Spring Congregational Meeting
At our Spring Congregational Meeting we will hold elections for the upcoming Strategic Planning Council terms beginning July 1.  Positions for election are President, Director of Leadership, Director of Facilities, and one At-Large position.  We will also provide a mid-year financial update and brief ministry update from staff.  Childcare and Sunday School will be offered during the meeting.

Pentecost Cookout
After the Congregational Meeting, we will gather together outside (weather permitting) for a cookout hosted by Hope’s Men’s Ministry, to fellowship and celebrate together.  Hope’s Men’s Ministry will be hosting the cookout but are looking for additional volunteers to help with cooking, set up, and serving.  If you are interested in helping with the cookout, please sign up here.

Please mark your calendars and join us for this very special “Birthday” celebration!

SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Sundays, May 26-Sep 1

9:30am Blended Worship with Livestream

10:30-11:30am Fellowship Hour

Childcare available 9:30am-11:30am

Dear Hope Community,

As we enter into the summer months, we will be shifting our worship schedule to one blended 9:30am service on Sundays, with an additional worship opportunity on one Wednesday each month called “Hope Summer Nights” (see below for more info!).  This change is temporary and for the summer only; and our regular Sunday worship schedule of 8:30am Traditional and 10:30am Modern will resume on September 15.  (Note: we will have one Combined 9:30am Hopefest Worship on September 8 to kick-off the new program year – please save the date!)

Why the change?

As we all know, summer brings lots of travel and activities on the weekends, and worship attendance typically decreases.  Reviewing the numbers from the past couple of years, we see a trend that attendance at Hope drops by about 20% in the summer, which affects both services.  In addition, our volunteers (you!) play a key role in making worship possible, and it can be difficult to secure such support for two services every Sunday when our community is busy with travel and other summer activities.  Creating a single blended service also provides an opportunity for our two worshipping communities to come together for relationship-building and worshipping together as one.  And, in good Hope fashion, this was a wonderful opportunity to experiment and try something new!

What can I expect?

Though the worship style over the summer may be slightly different, you can still expect a meaningful and quality worship experience with your faith community where the Word of God and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion are shared.  Music styles and liturgy will be blended in nature, aiming to combine elements of the two styles into one.  And as always, your volunteer support will be needed and welcome to help make worship happen each week.  Regardless of style or format, worship is ultimately about us gathering as a community to connect with God in an intentional and meaningful way, and that will never change!

I hope you will look forward to participating in this unique opportunity for worship during the summer, as we discover how the Spirit will move and stretch us into deeper community and connection with God.  And as always, your feedback and input along the way are welcome and appreciated.

Thank you for your continued faithfulness, support, and commitment to God’s church we call Hope!

Peace,

Pastor Kristin

PROGRAM YEAR WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Our regular worship schedule runs now through May 12. See above for schedule changes for Pentecost and our summer schedule including Summer Nights. Our regular schedule will resume September 15, 2024.

  • TRADITIONAL WORSHIP 8:30am

Our Traditional Worship Service has a traditional Lutheran worship feel, including liturgy, readings, and hymns, mostly accompanied by organ.  We also have a Choir which sings regularly at this service and is always looking for new members!

  • MODERN WORSHIP 10:30am

Our Modern Worship Service has a casual, free-form feel and uses more contemporary and modern worship music (click here for playlists and more information) led by our Worship Band, including a special message for children.  During the school year (September-May) we also provide Sunday School during this service for children Pre-K through 4th grade.  Children participate in the beginning and ending of worship (to include Holy Communion) and depart during the message for their own time of learning in Sunday School.

  • Fellowship Hour

    FELLOWSHIP HOUR

    CLICK TO LEARN MORE

Every Sunday morning between worship services, we hold a Fellowship Hour in our Welcome Center with our Coffee Bar open, as an intentional time to gather for fellowship and community-building. We also offer some special events during this time -- click here to learn more!

  • While we welcome children of all ages in worship, we also offer child care during our 9:30am Fellowship Hour and 10:30am Modern Worship in a safe, friendly, and fun environment for kids up to 4 years old.

  • Worship is something we create together, and it takes many people to make it happen.  We offer a variety of ways to serve and get involved in leading worship, anywhere from reading scripture to Audio/Video support to music to greeting people as they arrive.
