Worship is an important part of our lives as followers of Jesus.  It is an opportunity for us to gather in community to experience God and to be renewed in our faith.  Worship creates a space where God meets us through God’s Word and Sacraments of Holy Communion and Holy Baptism, and where we as a community respond to God in our praise, prayer, fellowship, and giving.  Hope Lutheran Church is pleased to offer unique styles of worship to encounter God in different ways.

Each of our worship services provide a "come as you are" atmosphere where we celebrate Holy Communion every week and all are welcome to receive it. We don't print bulletins, however, all congregational responses and songs are provided on screen and we even have QR codes in the pews for easy access to online giving during offering. Once a month, usually on the second Sunday, we have Stephen Ministers who provide personal anointing and prayer during Holy Communion and we love kids in worship! Children of all ages are welcome in our worship services, and to come just as they are. Our 9:30am Summer Blended Worship (10:30am Modern Worship September-May)  includes a special children’s message and we have activity bags available to help keep them busy during worship.

All are welcome at Hope Lutheran Church -- Join us for Worship!

Under Construction: The Wisdom of God

Summer Worship Series
Sundays, 9:30am (10:30am Fellowship Hour)
May 26-September 1

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6

How do you know which way to go? What voices, guidance, or wisdom do you follow to help navigate your way through life? Much like the roads during summer construction season, it can be challenging sometimes to know what to listen to, what to do, or where to go. So where does God’s voice fit into all of that?

The Bible is filled with what we call “wisdom literature”; books and verses that provide us with guidance to help us live our lives. During this summer of road construction season, as we experience the struggles of which ways to go and which signs to follow, we will also be diving in deeper to some of this wisdom found in the Bible, and how God “works on us” through these wisdom passages to shape us and how we live.  Join us on Sundays at 9:30am for worship this summer, as we uncover God’s wisdom found in the Bible and how it helps us to find our way.

Wednesday, July 10 (Outdoor if weather permits)

  • 6pm Fellowship Meal & Service Project
  • 7pm Worship (livestream not available)

Join us for Hope Summer Nights in July for food, fellowship, service, and worship! We will gather starting at 6pm for a meal and fellowship, followed by worship at 7pm with a special emphasis on who we are “Created to Be” honoring the theme for this summer’s ELCA Youth Gathering. The worship service will include a special blessing for the youth and leaders heading to New Orleans on July 15th. All activities, including worship, will be outside at our portico; we will have chairs available, but all are welcome to bring their own lawn/camping chairs, blankets etc. We will also have a “Kid-Zone” for our younger members to enjoy and play while they worship. There is no cost for the meal, but free-will donations may be given to cover the cost of the meal, as well as regular offering in worship.

Personalized Nursing Light House Service Project

As we uplift who God has created each of us to be, we also take time to recognize and care for all in our community by providing support to Personalized Nursing Light House (PNLH), an organization in Southeast Michigan that provides clients support and resources as they struggle with addiction. During the mealtime from 6-7pm, we will be gathering donated items (see list below) that will be given to residents at their shelter. Click here to learn more about PNLH. Summer needs at PNLH include:

  • men’s and women’s summer clothes
  • hoodie jackets with zippers in 1x, 2x, 3x
  • new underwear (all sizes), including sports bras
  • used or new bicycles (to get to work)
  • Toiletries
  • canned soup, pasta sauce & macaroni and cheese

ELCA Youth Gathering Special Offering

In addition to collecting items for PNLH, we will also collect a special monetary offering for the ELCA Youth Gathering in-kind offering to create Hurricane Kits. The goal at the ELCA Youth Gathering is to create 3,000 disaster relief kits filled with these items to help New Orleanians get through the days immediately following a natural disaster. It takes about $100 to create an entire disaster relief kit. We encourage you to join us in raising funds to purchase our region's assigned item (AA batteries) or to help complete an entire kit! Donations to this special offering can be made through July 10 here. We will have a special blessing for the Hurricane Kit Offering during worship on July 10th.

Invite your friends and neighbors, and please join us for this special evening! Our final Hope Summer Night event will occur on August 14th. Watch for more information coming soon!

(September - May)

Our regular worship schedule will resume in the Fall. See above for schedule changes for summer worship including Summer Nights. Our regular schedule will resume September 15, 2024.

Our Traditional Worship Service has a traditional Lutheran worship feel, including liturgy, readings, and hymns, mostly accompanied by organ.  We also have a Choir which sings regularly at this service and is always looking for new members!

  • MODERN WORSHIP 10:30am

Our Modern Worship Service has a casual, free-form feel and uses more contemporary and modern worship music (click here for playlists and more information) led by our Worship Band, including a special message for children.  During the school year (September-May) we also provide Sunday School during this service for children Pre-K through 4th grade.  Children participate in the beginning and ending of worship (to include Holy Communion) and depart during the message for their own time of learning in Sunday School.

  • Fellowship Hour

Every Sunday morning between worship services, we hold a Fellowship Hour in our Welcome Center with our Coffee Bar open, as an intentional time to gather for fellowship and community-building. We also offer some special events during this time -- click here to learn more!

  • While we welcome children of all ages in worship, we also offer child care during our 9:30am Fellowship Hour and 10:30am Modern Worship in a safe, friendly, and fun environment for kids up to 4 years old.

  • Worship is something we create together, and it takes many people to make it happen.  We offer a variety of ways to serve and get involved in leading worship, anywhere from reading scripture to Audio/Video support to music to greeting people as they arrive.
