Ladies Advent Tea

Monday December 2 | Sign up to attend

Ladies Advent Tea is about the Season of Advent, reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts and homes for Christ’s birth. A time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflections, special music, and good deeds, what the true meaning of Jesus’ birth is.

What is Advent?  The word Advent, meaning arrival, presence, on the way, or coming, refers to the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. The Advent season begins 4 weeks before Christmas and concludes with the birth of Christ. While we wonder and wait, we join as women in community to lift each other as we learn and are reassured of the Lord's promises of hope, love, joy and peace.

What does it mean to be a host?  As a host at Ladies Advent Tea, you will be responsible for setting up a table for 8 and cleaning up your table at the end of the evening. The table host supplies:

  • A place setting for 8 including plates, silverware, napkins, tea cups, and water glasses
  • 1 or 2 tea pots
  • A tablecloth (Hope will provide a tablecloth if you do not bring one)

Hope will provide tea for each table and table centerpieces consisting of an advent wreath with candles. Early setup will begin on Sunday, December 1 after the Modern Worship Service. If desired, you will be able to start setting up your table at that time. If you prefer to setup on Monday before the event, doors will open at 4:00pm for hosts to start or complete their set up prior to the 6:00pm start time.

Do I need to sign up? Yes. Please click here to sign up. Volunteers are needed to help setup and cleanup as well. If you have any questions, please call co-chair Krysta Llewellyn at 810-923-3764 or call the office at 248-553-7170.

Do I need to bring anything? Yes. As a participant, we ask that you bring an appetizer or dessert to share.

Is there anything else I need to know?  Each year, the committee choses a charity and needed items are collected and donated. This year the charity is Alternatives For Girls in Detroit (www.alternativesforgirls.org). For this charity, we will be collecting baby diapers, baby products, and female toiletries.

How do I sign up? Click here or use Hope's Church Center app (find the app in your favorite app store by searching for HopeOn12). If you need help signing up, please call the office.
