Hope Happenings
News and Events may also be found in our monthly newsletter "The Messenger"
Join us for our Fall Kick-Off Celebration on Sunday, September 12!
We will have only two worship services that day; the 8:15am traditional worship and the 9:30am contemporary worship. At 11:00am, we will have lunch available along with fun activities for everyone in the family (we will have the dunk tank again this year!). This is a time to reconnect with friends you haven’t seen this summer, so join us for the festivities and see what's happening at Hope this fall!
September is month four of our Adopt-a-Ministry campaign!
The spotlighted ministry for September is "Confirmation and Senior High Ministries." This campaign is aimed at managing our current deficit and projected year-end financial shortfall. Click here for more details regarding September's sponsored items or to make an online donation.
2010 - 2011 Sunday School Registration
During the Sunday School learning hour, our goal is to help lay a firm foundation in every child that has been entrusted to us. Our Sunday School program this fall has a new name: Faith SPARK! Forms can be found at the welcome desk or online (submitted electronically). Please fill out a registration for each child and adult in your family. This registration will give the office pertinent emergency information needed for each member of your family.
2010-11 Music Program Registration
If you or another family member is interested in being a part of any musical or praise group in the fall, we would ask you to please fill out the Music Program registration form for each participant in the family. Forms can be found either at the welcome desk or online (submitted electronically). It may seem early to commit, but early response will be helpful in scheduling.
Abuse Prevention Training
If you are planning to work with Hope’s children or youth, you must participate in abuse prevention training. The next class will be offered Wednesday, September 8 at 7:00pm. Please contact Pastor Lauren if you’re planning to attend and if child care is needed.
Abuse Prevention Renewal of Service
If you have taken the Abuse Prevention Training within the past three years, you should have received a “renewal of service” form in the mail. Completion of this form is REQUIRED for continued work with children or youth at Hope this year. Please return the form to the church office as soon as possible.
Confirmation Guides Needed
Being a small group leader, or “Guide,” for a small group of middle school youth as they journey through their confirmation experience is a truly rewarding and meaningful experience. Guides are caring adults who love God, like kids, and commit to a year of learning, playing, and praying with 4-6 youth. If God is calling you to be involved in the lives of the young people at Hope in this way, please contact Pastor Lauren as soon as possible at 248-553-7170.

Hope’s Family Fun Day ~ September 19, 2010
Those that pray together and play together, stay together! On Sunday, September 19, Hope is planning a day of fun for the entire family at Camp Dearborn in Milford. It will start at 2:00pm with an eighteen hole scramble at the beautiful Mystic Creek golf course. All golfers are welcome no matter what their ability is. You can set up your own foursome or we can assign you to a group. There will be men’s and women’s “longest drive” and “closet to the pin” holes. We encourage you to bring friends and relatives. The more, the merrier! If you are not a golfer, that’s OK too! There are beautiful beaches, walking areas and paddleboats available if you want to make a day of it. There will be a putt-putt tournament starting at 5:00pm for the kids and non-golfers.
The day will culminate with a buffet picnic dinner at 7:00pm when all the groups will come together and break bread together. There will be some small awards for the event winners and a good time for all. Watch for sign up sheets on the bulletin board for costs and additional information. Contact Rick Jaster at 248-363-1763 for more information. Mark your calendar now, so you don’t miss it!
The "Growing Hope" Garden is growing leaps and bounds!
With all the sunshine and rain, the garden has really started to produce! There have been several donations of beans, peas, zucchini, radish, lettuce and herbs to Hospitality House in Commerce Township. Future donations will also be made to Servant Church of St. Alexander in Farmington Hills.
The garden made its way onto the pages of the Farmington Press in the June 23 issue. Click here to see what Hope is up to in the garden!
