A little about Acupuncture

by ruth lehmann

Acupuncture uses your body’s own medicine to heal and restore by tapping into your skin (fascia) which sends a message to your brain to release neurotransmitters or endorphins (as they are more commonly known) such as serotonin and dopamine.

Our acupuncture sessions are a way for you to experience a treatment that helps ease stress, pain, and worries.

Acupuncture will be done in a community style setting which involves reclining in an anti-gravity chair in a room with five other people. You will stay fully clothed. The needles are hair fine, sterile, single use, completely solid and made of surgical stainless steel. All the points will be swabbed with alcohol and then the needles will be set and stay in place for 30 minutes while you reset, relax, and recharge. Expect five to ten needles used and they will be placed in ears, hands, legs, feet and maybe forehead.

Side effects are very minimal and include a tiny risk of bleeding or bruising, however, most people report that they feel energized, sleep deeper, and have a decrease in inflammation and/or pain.

Your session will be provided by a Masters prepared Registered Acupuncturist who have taken and passed four national boards to be a Certified Oriental Medicine Practitioner.

A look at our marketplace vendors

If you like to shop, make sure to stop by the Marketplace and visit these vendors who will be participating in the Women's Retreat. All vendor proceeds support and empower women. The products come directly from the hands of women working to provide for themselves and their families. These female artisans are from around the globe and right here in Metro Detroit! To find out more, click on each vendor below.

Also, remember to bring cash, checks, and credit cards to ensure a quick and convenient purchase!

DONATIONs that MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As part of our slowing down to care for ourselves, we realize we are called to care for others in need.

With this in mind, our Be Still Women's Retreat is partnering with C.A.R.E.S. of Farmington Hills to help benefit our sisters who struggle to secure basic feminine products.

We encourage each participant of the Be Still Women's Retreat to bring a donation of feminine products. Any/All donations are accepted including pads, tampons, pantyliners, etc.

Bins will be available on the day of the event. If you are unable to attend and would like to drop off prior to the event, please bring your donation to the office.

We thank you in advance for your thoughtful donation.
