This book will be hard for most of us...at least those of us who are white.

Lenny Duncan is an unlikely pastor. Formerly incarcerated, formerly homeless, and formerly unchurched. He is now a black preacher in the whitest denomination in the United States: the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (that would be us here at Hope). Shifting demographics and shrinking congregations make the headlines, but Duncan connects the church's lack of diversity to its lack of vitality. Part manifesto, part confession, and all love letter, Dear Church offers a bold new vision for the future of the church.

Here at Hope, members and visitors alike are invited into this conversation on Wednesday evenings. Be prepared to be in conversation with those you disagree most and about topics that challenge us all. This is a conversation we need to have!
